"Reforming New York’s education system is a critical component of our State’s continued economic growth and competitiveness. New York received $700 million in federal Race to the Top funds to help our school system, and we can not afford to jeopardize this funding. We must work within the Governor’s timeline to establish an effective teacher evaluation system that will meet the federal mandate, and ensure that our teachers are successful and our children are getting the education they deserve.
