For nearly four decades, ABNY has been bringing together leaders from government, business, labor, education, health, sports & entertainment, and tourism to solve the problems of the day. As the City’s premier civic organization ABNY’s over 300 member organizations work together to make New York City a better place to live, work, and visit.
To further support our mission, The ABNY Foundation, a tax-exempt non-profit corporation has been established to raise funds for social, educational, and other various programs.
The ABNY Foundation is a strong supporter of The New York Says Thank You Foundation, founded by New Yorker Jeff Parness. Jeff recently briefed the ABNY Steering Committee on the Foundation’s mission of sending volunteers from New York City each year on the 9/11 anniversary to help rebuild communities around the country affected by natural or man-made disasters as our way of commemorating the extraordinary love and generosity extended to New Yorkers by Americans from all across the United States in the days, weeks, and months following 9/11. This September, volunteers will travel to Greensburg, Kansas to rebuild the community, which was hit by a F5 tornado last May. Donations are essential for success and ABNY asks for your support. On Tuesday, March 11, 2008, over 400 ABNY members and guests gathered at Blue Fin Restaurant in Times Square to raise funds for The ABNY Foundation while bestowing the Spirit of ABNY award on Lew Leone of Fox5/My9; Kenneth E. Raske of the Greater New York Hospital Association; and Deputy Mayor Edward Skyler for their good work and service to the community. Former Mayor Edward I. Koch was presented with the Lew Rudin Founders Award for his lifelong dedication and commitment to making New York a better place to live, work, and visit.
